How To Calculate SE of Paired Mean - Definition

Definition:

Standard error is a statistical term which denotes the standard deviation of several sample statistics such as mean or median.

Formula :
Standard Error ( SE ) =√  S12 / N1 + S22 / N2
Where,
S1 = Sample one standard deviations S2 = Sample two standard deviations N1 = Sample one size N2 = Sample two size
Example:

Find the Standard Error of paired sample if standard deviations of samples are 2, 3, with sizes 8, 6.

Given,

Sample one standard deviations = 2 Sample two standard deviations = 3 Sample one size = 8 Sample two size = 6

To Find,

Standard Error of paired sample

Solution:

Substitute the given values in the formula to find the Standard Error of paired sample , =√  S12 / N1 + S22 / N2 = √  2 x 2 / 8 + 3 x 3 / 6 Standard Error of paired sample = 1.41421
