Learn How to Calculate Solar Inverter Capacity - Tutorial

Learn How to Calculate Solar Inverter Capacity - Formula, Example

Definition:

Solar inverter capacity in watts is calculated, based on the number of solar panel and capacity of solar panel in watts. Battery charge time also calculated, based on the amps produces for an hour.

Formula:

Inverter capacity = Number of panel x Watts per panel Battery charge time = Inverter capacity / Amps per hour
Example:

Calculate the battery charge time, where there are 2 solar panels and each having the capacity of 50W. Production of the solar panel is 12A per hour.

Given,

Number of panel = 2 Capacity of panel = 50 W Production of panel = 12 A

Solution:

Step 1:
Inverter capacity= Number of panel x Watts per panel
= 2 x 50 = 100 W
Step 2:
Battery charge time = Inverter capacity / Amps per hour
  = 100 / 12 = 8.33 hours
