Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient Calculator

The transfer of heat due to fluids moving from one place to another is called as convective heat transfer or convection. Convection is described as the newtons law of cooling which states rate of heat lost by an object is proportional to the difference in temperature of the object and environment. It is the major form of heat transfer in the liquids and gases. Use this online convection heat transfer coefficient calculator to find the heat transferred in watts with the given values.

Formula:

Heat Transferred = hc × A × dT Where, A = Heat Transfer Area of the Surface hc = Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient dT = Temperature Difference Between the Surface and Bulk Fluid

Example:

Calculate heat transferred when you have heat transfer area of the surface as 9 m2, convective heat transfer coefficient as 5 W/(mm2K), and the difference between surface and bulk fluid as 6 C.

Solution:

Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient = 5 × 9 × 6
= 270 W.
