Orbit Calculator

In space, the curved path of an object around a point is called as the orbit of Earth or satellite. The object involved here is considered as a satellite. Earth is a satellite due to its orbit through the sun. This orbit calculator is used to find the flight velocity, orbital radius and period. This scientific calculator is designed to give the critical information used by the communications industry, of a given satellite with relation to the Earth.

Formula:

R = 6378.14 + h V = √( 398600.5 / R) P = 2π * (R / V) Orbit of Earth or Satellite Where, R = Orbital Radius h = Orbital Altitude V = Flight Velocity P = Orbital Period

Usually, the shape of the orbit is ellipse or oval. Planets mostly have a circular orbit and comets will have a different shape.

Example:

Orbit of Earth or Satellite

If the orbit altitude is 1000 km, then
Orbital Radius = 6378.14 + 1000
Orbital Radius = 7378.14 km

Flight Velocity = √( 398600.5 / 7378.14)
Flight Velocity = 7.3501 km/s

Orbital Period = 2π * (7378.14 / 7.3501)
Orbital Period = 1 hr 45 min 7 sec
