Darcy Law - Porosity Calculator
English

Darcy's law describes the rate of flow of liquid through a porous medium, like an aquifer, where its directly proportional to the drop in elevation between two places in the medium and inversely proportional to the distance between them. The law is practically used to determine the oil, water, and gas flows through petroleum reservoirs. Find the Porosity using Darcy law porosity calculator based on the values of voids volume (Vv) and total volume (Vt).

Darcy's Law - Porosity:

Porosity: Voids Volume: Total Volume: Where, n = Porosity, Vv = Voids Volume, Vt = Total Volume.

Example:

A fluid flows through a porous medium with voids volume as 75 m3 and total volume of 15 m3.

Using Darcy Law - Porosity Formula

Porosity = Vv / Vt
= 75/15
= 5

Darcy law porosity works on the force in the fluid which are balanced by the viscous resistance of the medium. The theory was formulated by Henry Darcy, on flowing water through beds of sand.
