Hooke's Law Spring Constant Calculator

Hooke's law states that the restoring force of the string is directly proportional to its displacement. In simple, it is for finding the stretch of springs. It is defined as the force needed to stretch or extend a string which is directly proportional to the distance you stretch it. Feel free to use our online Hooke's Law spring constant calculator to calculate spring force constant k based on the values such as force, distance from equilibrium and spring equilibrium position.

Formula:

k = F / (X - X0) Where, k = Spring Constant F = Force X = Distance from Equilibrium X0 = Spring Equilibrium Position

Example:

Calculate spring force constant k based on the Hooke's Law based on the force 50 N, distance from equilibrium of 30 mm, and spring equilibrium position of 20 mm.

Solution:

k = 50 / (30 - 20)
=50/(0.03-0.02)
= 5000 Newton / Meter
