Doppler Effect Red Shift Frequency Calculator

The frequency of a light wave observed when the source is traveling away from you is called as red shift frequency of Doppler effect. The variation in the observed frequency in comparison with the emitted source is called Doppler effect for light. Here is the Doppler effect red shift frequency calculator which calculates the red shift frequency away from the observer for the input values of emitted frequency, velocity away from observer and speed of light.

Formula:

Observed Red-Shift Frequency = F × (1-(V/C)) Where, F = Emitted Frequency V = Velocity Away from You C = Speed of Light from Source

Example:

Calculate the red shift frequency for emitted frequency as 8 Hz, velocity as 12 m/s and speed of light as 15 m/s.

Solution:

Doppler Effect Red Shift Frequency = 8 × (1- (12 / 15) )
= 1.6 Hz.
