Muzzle Velocity Calculator

Muzzle velocity is the velocity or speed at which bullet leaves from the gun. Modern riffles have more than 1200 mts per second of speed. Higher the muzzle velocity, better the chance of the bullet reaching the target quickly. This online muzzle velocity calculator is used to find the speed at which bullet leaves from gun provided with the airgun energy and pellet weight.

Formula:

V = √((e * 450240) / w) Where, V = Muzzle Velocity e = Airgun Energy w = Pellet Weight

Velocity of the bullet will be highest at the point at the muzzle of the gun and reduces due to the air resistance as it reaches the target.

Example :

Muzzle Velocity

If the airgun velocity is 37 ft-pound and pellet weight is 12 grain , then
Muzzle velocity = √((37 * 450240) / 12)
                       = 1178.236 ft / sec
