Example :

The thickness of a sheet is 3 cm, die ratio=6, bend length=3, tensile=4, factor of safety =4 Calculate the v-bending force of the sheet.

Given :

sheet thickness = 3

die ratio            = 6

bend length      = 3

tensile              = 4

Factor of safety = 4

To Find :

V-Bending Force

Solution :
Step 1:

First, let us calculate the v-bending force. Substitute the given values in the formula,

BF=(safetyfactor*kfactor*ultimatestrength*bendlength*thickness2)/dieOpening

BF=(4*1.364*4*3*32)/18

     =32.736

Step 2:

Now, let us calculate the v-bending force in tons. V-Bending force(tons) = BF / 2000 = 32.736/2000 = 0.02

Result :

V-Bending Force(BF) = 32.736 V-Bending Force(tons) = 0.02
