Let us consider the problem: A body of mass 60 kgs moves wit a velocity of 50m/s. What is its kinetic energy?

Solution:

We can calculate the kinetic energy using the given formula.

Kinetic Energy:

Ek = 1/2 mv2

Mass:

m = Ek / 1/2 v2

Velocity:


Where, m = Mass, v = Velocity.

Substituting the values in the formula, Ek = 1/2 ((600 x (50^2)) = 1/2 ((600 x 2500) = 1/2 ((1500000) = 75000 Hence, the kinetic energy of the object is 75000 Joules.

Example 2:

Let us consider the problem: A body of mass 20 kgs has a kinetic energy of 3000 J. What is its velocity?

Solution:

We can calculate the velocity using the given formula.

Mass:

m = Ek / 1/2 v2

Where, KE = Kinetic Energy m = Mass, v = Velocity.

Substituting the values in the formula,

= √2 x 3000 / 30 = √6000 / 30 = √6000 / 30 = 200 m/s Hence, the velocity of the object is 200 m/s.
