Deceleration Calculator Distance

A gradual decrease in speed or velocity is called as deceleration. Its unit is ms-2. When we drive a vehicle, there will be a sudden decrease in speed to stop the vehicle which is called as deceleration also called as negative acceleration. Use our online deceleration calculator to calculate deceleration without time values. Enter the final, initial velocity and distance in the deceleration calculator distance to find the value of negative acceleration.

Formula:

Deceleration = v2 - u2 / 2s Where, v = The Final Velocity u = The Initial Velocity s = Distance

Example:

A bike travels at an initial velocity of 5kmph and the final velocity is 2kmph. If the distance traveled is 25m then calculate the deceleration of the bike?

Solution:

Deceleration = (22 - 52) / 2 x 25
= -0.42 ms-2
