Formula:

Moment of Inertia = Mass x Radius2 / 2 Angular Momentum = Moment of Inertia x Angular Speed

Example:

Calculate angular momentum from moment of inertia of a rod of radius 10 m and mass 50 kg which is rotating with the angular speed of 20 ms-1.

Solution:

Moment of Inertia = Mass x Radius2 / 2
= 50 x 102 / 2
= 2500 kgm2

Angular Momentum = Moment of Inertia x Angular Speed
= 2500 x 20
= 50000 kgm2s-1
