Formula:

Postoperative Infection Rate = (i / s)×100 Where, i = Number of Infections in Clean Surgical Cases s = Total Number of Surgical Operations

Example:

Calculate the Postoperative infection rate for total number of surgical operations as 20 and number of infections in clean surgical cases as 17.

Solution:

Postoperative Infection Rate = ( 17 / 20 )×100
= 85%
