How to Calculate Revised Trauma Score (RTS) - Tutorial

Calculate Revised Trauma Score - Definition, Formula and Example

Definition:

Revised Trauma Score is a medical scoring system to predict vital signs of a patient. A minimum score indicates a higher intensity of injury.

Formula:

RTS = (0.9368 * GCS Value) + (0.7326 * SBP Value) + (0.2908 * RR Value) Where, RTS - Glasgow Coma Scale SBP - Systolic Blood Pressure RR - Respiratory Rate
Example:

Consider that Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) as 13, Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) as 90 and Respiratory Rate (RR) as 10. How to compute the Revised Trauma Score?

Given,

Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) = 13 Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) = 90 Respiratory Rate (RR) = 10

Solution:

Substitute the values in the formula,

RTS = (0.9368 * GCS Value) + (0.7326 * SBP Value) + (0.2908 * RR Value)
(0.9368 * 13) + (0.7326 * 90) + (0.2908 * 10)
7.8408
