Formula:

Hospital Infection = i / d Hospital Infection Rate = (i / d)×100 Where, i = Total Number of Hospital Infections d = Total Number of Discharges (Including Deaths)

Example:

Calculate the hospital infection rate for the total number of hospital infections as 32 and the total number of discharges (including deaths) as 35.

Solution:

= 0.9143
Hospital infections rate = (32 / 35)×100
= 91.4286%
