Formula:

FEV1 = Race x ((0.0395 x Height) - (0.025 x Age) - 2.6) FVC = Race x ((0.0443 x Height) - (0.026 x Age) - 2.89) FEV1 FVC Ratio = 89.1 - (0.19 x Age)

Example:

A 35 years old Asian Woman is 160 cm tall, calculate FEV1 FVC Ratio?

Solution:

FEV1 = Race x ((0.0395 x Height) - (0.025 x Age) - 2.6)
= 0.93 x ((0.0395 x 160) - (0.025 x 35) - 2.6)
= 2.6459 litres

FVC = Race x ((0.0443 x Height) - (0.026 x Age) - 2.89)
= 0.93 x ((0.0443 x 160) - (0.026 x 35) - 2.89)
= 3.0578 litres

FEV1 FVC Ratio = 89.1 - (0.19 x Age)
= 89.1 - (0.19 x 35)
= 82.45 %
