Drug Abuse Screening Test

This page holds the simple questionnaire consisting of around 20 simple questions related to the use of drugs and its addiction. This self-assessment test is called DAST (Drug Abuse Screening Test), also known as B-DAST (Brief Drug Abuse Screening Test). The original version of DAST assessment consists of 28 questions and the shortest version is DAST-10 with only 10 questions. Has drug use created problems between you and your spouse or your parents?
Have you lost friends because of your use of drugs?
Have you neglected your family because of your use of drugs?
Have you been in trouble at work because of drug use?
Have you lost a job because of drug use?
Have you gotten into fights when under the influence of drugs?
Have you engaged in illegal activities in order to obtain drugs?
Have you been arrested for possession of illegal drugs?
Have you ever experienced withdrawal symptoms (felt sick) when you stopped taking drugs?
Have you had medical problems as a result of your drug use (e.g. memory loss, hepatitis, convulsions, bleeding, etc.)?
Have you been involved in a treatment program specifically related to drug use?
Have you gone to anyone for help for a drug problem?

This Drug Abuse Assessment is designed to provide a brief, self-report instrument for drug abuse screening test and treatment evaluation research. It can be used with adults and older youth. DAST is not for alcohol addiction.
