Residuals is the vertical distance between the plotted data value to the point that lies on the regression line. Residuals is used to determine the suitable shape functions for the given model of data.


Formula :

Residuals = Observed y value - predicted y value Residual, Will be negative if plotted value is below the regression line. Will be positive if plotted value is above the regression line. Will be zero when the plotted value lies on the regression line.
