What is independent event - Definition and Meaning
Independent Event :
Consider two events A and B. If these two events satisfy the condition P(A∩B ) = P(A) * P(B), then they are called independent events.
Formula :
Example :
A die is tossed twice. The first time, it can get either 1 or 2.
Second time, it can be 3 or 4 or 5. So what is the probability?
P(E1) = 2/6 = 1/3 and P(E2) = 3/6 = 1/2.
The P(E1) and P(E2) are independent events,
so P(E1 ∩ E2) = P(E1) * P(E2) = 1/3 * 1/2 = 1/6
