Golden Ratio

Golden ratio is 1.61803399. It is also called as Golden mean, Golden section, Golden proportion, Divine proportion and Divine section.The golden ratio is the only ratio whose square can be produced simply by adding 1 and whose reciprocal by subtracting 1.

The Golden ratio is a special number found by dividing a line into two parts so that the longer part divided by the smaller part is also equal to the whole length divided by the longer part.

Golden number was first introduced by Euclid around 300 B.C. It is used in taking the ratio of distance between many geometric figures like pentagon, pentagram, decagon and dodeca hedron.

Golden ratio are used in architectural structures as it provides the proper balance and equilibrium. Layouts of Parthenon, Greece has made with the use of golden ratio. Great pyramids of Giza built 4600 years before has used the Golden ratio.

Golden ratio has found a special relationship between the Fibonacci series. When we look into the successive digits in the fibonacci sequence their ratio remains very close to the golden ratio.
