Geometric construction using compass and ruler alone

compass and ruler

Practically its possible to construct length, angles and all the basic geometric shapes using compass and ruler alone. This is called as Compass - Ruler construction.

Five basic figures that can be constructed with the compass and ruler are

Creating a line with two distinct points.

Creating the circle through one point with centre another point

Creating the point which is the intersection of two existing, non-parallel lines

Creating the one or two points in the intersection of a line and a circle (if they intersect)

Creating the one or two points in the intersection of two circles (if they intersect).

For example, just with two distinct points its easy to draw a line or two circles (keeping one point as center, draw a circle and keeping other point as center draw the other circle, in the way that both the circle intersect each other.
