How to Subtract Binary Numbers?

Two's Complement Subtraction : 110 - 101 Step : 1

110 -101 ------- -------- Step : 2

Take the reverse of the number to be subtracted (101) 101 = 010 Hence 110 -010 ------- -------- Step : 3

Now, Add one to the new second term, 010 + 1 ------ 011 ------ Step : 4

Add this new term to the original term, 011 + 110 = 1001 The resulting is a four digit binary number,

This complement subtraction problem should end up with one digit long than the digits of numbers involved in the problem. (i.e.,) We solved a three digit number and the result is a four digit number. Step : 5 Discard the first digit and hence the answer would be 001. Thus, subtracting 101 from 110 by two's (2's) complement method gives you 001.
