Unsaturated Iron Binding Capacity (UIBC) Formula

Iron binding capacity tests are taken to diagnose the presence of anemia and treating it. The measure of maximum iron concentration that helps the transferrin to bind is called Total iron capacity (TIBC). The serum has a specific amount of reserved capacity for iron binding. This capacity is called Unsaturated iron binding capacity of serum. This Unsaturated iron binding capacity (UIBC) formula helps you to calculate such capacity of serum.

Formula:

UIBC = T - I

Where,

U = Unsaturated Iron Binding Capacity
T = Total Iron Binding Capacity
I = Serum Iron
