Specific Gravity and Water Absorption Test Formula

Water Absorption is the percent of the water required by the aggregate to obtain SSD condition. Use the Specific gravity and water absorption test formula given here will help you in the water absorption of aggregates calculation. To compute water absorption, subtract the weight of dry piece in fluid from the weight of dry piece soaked in fluid, and divide the obtained value by the weight of dry piece in fluid. Multiply the resultant value with 100 to determine the amount of absorption of water.

Formula:

Water Absorption = (S - W / W) x 100

Where,

S = Weight of Dry Piece Soaked in Fluid
W = Weight of Dry Piece in Fluid
