Apparent Solid Specific Gravity Formula

The page shows the Apparent solid specific gravity formula to calculate the apparent specific gravity of the substance with the known values. To compute the apparent specific gravity, first multiply the weight of dry piece in a fluid with the density of a fluid. Then subtract the weight of dry piece soaked & immersed in fluid from the weight of dry piece in a fluid. Now, divide the first step value by the second step value to get the apparent specific gravity of the fluid.

Formula:

Ga = (W x D) / (W - I)

Where,

Ga = Apparent Solid Specific Gravity
W = Weight of Dry Piece in Fluid
D = Density of Fluid
I = Weight of Dry Piece Soaked & Immersed in Fluid

Apparent volume refers to the ratio of the weight of the volume of the substance to the ratio of the equal volume of the reference substance. It's important to know the temperature and pressure for both the substance. But in case of this apparent solid specific gravity calculation, this Apparent solid specific gravity formula does not require pressure and temperature values.
