Formula:

Add Tax Tax Amount = ( Original Cost * VAT% ) / 100 Net Price = Original Cost + Tax Amount
Remove Tax Tax Amount = Original Cost - ( Original Cost * ( 100 / ( 100 + VAT% ) ) ) Net Price = Original Cost - Tax Amount

12% Value added tax is imposed on food and services like hotel room rental fees. 6% is collected on publications, admission tickets, cultural events and travel made within the country.

Find the VAT price and net price in Sweden (GST % is 25) for an amount of 25000 kr

Add Tax

Solution :
GST % = 25
Amount = 25000

Step 1 :
GST Price = (25000 * 25 ) / 100
     = 6250 kr

Step 2 :
Net Price = 25000 + 6250
     = 31250 kr

Hence the VAT Price is 6250 kr and Net Price is 31250 kr

Remove Tax

Solution :
GST % = 25
Amount = 25000

Step 1 :
GST Price = 25000 - (25000 * ( 100 / (100 + 25)))
                 = 25000 - (25000 * 0.8)
                 = 25000 - 20000
                 = 25000 - 20000
GST Price = 5000 kr

Step 2 :
Net Price = 25000 - 5000
                = 20000 kr

Hence the VAT Price is 5000 kr and Net Price is 20000 kr
