Formula:

GDSR = [( p + t + h ) / m ] *100 Where, GDSR = Gross Debt Service Ratio p = Principal and Interest t = Property Taxes h = Heating Costs m = Gross Monthly Income

Gross debt service ratio is usually expressed in percentage and the value should not exceed 32 %.

Example

Consider the principal and interest as 1000 $, property tax as 300 $, heating cost as 200 $ and GMI as 5000 $

GDSR = [( 1000+300+200 ) / 5000 ] * 100
        = ( 1500 / 5000 ) * 100
        = ( 3/10 ) * 100
Therefore, the GDSR Value is 30 %
