u = (o / i) Where, u = Defects Per Unit o = Number of Defects Observed i = Number of Units Inspected

Example:

Calculate the defects per unit for the observed number of defects of 50 and the inspected number of units of 120.

Solution:

u = (50 / 120)
= 0.4167
