Formula:

l = (a2 × b) + (c2 × d) Where, l = Copper Loss a = Primary Winding Current b = Primary Winding Ohmic Resistance c = Secondary Winding Current d = Secondary Winding Ohmic Resistance

Example:

Calculate the copper loss, where primary winding current = 2, primary winding Ohmic resistance = 8, secondary winding current = 10, secondary winding Ohmic resistance = 15.

Solution:

I = (4 x 8) + (100 x 15)
= 1532
