Formula:

V = h / 3(A1 + A2 + √(A1 * A2)) Where, V = Volume of Trapezoid Footing h = Height of Trapezoidal A1 = Area of the Lower Shape A2 = Area of the Upper Shape A1 = m x n (Lower Height x Lower Breadth) A2 = o x p (Upper Height x Upper Breadth)

Example:

A pillar is built where the lower shape has the height and breadth as 10mm, 15mm, the height and breadth of the upper shape is 20mm and 25mm. The height of the trapezoid measured is 30mm. Find the trapezoidal footing volume of the pillar.

Solution:

Find the area of the lower shape and upper shape:
A1 = 10 x 15 = 150mm
A2 = 20 X 25 = 500mm
Trapezoidal footing volume calculations:
V = 30 / 3(150 + 500 + √150 * 500)
= 9238.6128mm3
