Dip Switch work in binary. Hence, Switch one represents value 1, switch 2 is 2, 3 is 4 , 4 is 8, 5 is 16, 6 is 32, 7 is 64, 8 is 128, 9 is 256.
2^0 = 1
2^1 = 2
2^2 = 4
2^3 = 8
2^4 = 16
2^5 = 32
2^6 = 64
2^7 = 128
2^8 = 256

Example

If you want to set DMX address for value 13, the highest numbers that fits 13 is 2^0,2^2,2^3 (1+4+8)
Switch 1 is 1
Switch 4 is 3
Switch 8 is 4
Hence, switches 1,3 and 4 will be set as ON.
