Formula:

Ionic Strength(I) = 1/2 * ∑ z² * c Where, Z = Valence of the species C = Concentration of the species

Example:

For a compound of Na2SO4 of 2 M molarity, Concentration is (+2*2), (4*2) Valence is 2,4
Ionic Strength = 1/ 2 [(2^2)(4) + (4^2)(8) = 1/2 [16+128] = 72 = 72 mol / L
