Height of a Regular Pyramid Calculator

Regular pyramid is a right pyramid having the base as regular polygon. Regular pyramid have equal edges and those edges are congruent isosceles triangles. Height is measured from base to the apex. Pythagorean theorem is used in finding the height of the regular pyramid. It is measured as perpendicular distance from the plane from base. Use our online calculator to find the height of a regular pyramid by knowing the apothem of the side, number of sides and side of base.

Formula:

Height of Regular Pyramid = (√ (4b2 sin2 (π/n) - a2)) / 2 sin(π / n) Where, b = Lateral Edge n = Number of Sides a = Side of Base

Example:

A regular pyramid with 5 sides has lateral edge of 8 cm and base length 5 cm.

Solution:

Height = (√ (4 (8)2 sin2 (3.14 / 5) - 52)) / 2 sin(3.14 / 5)
= 228.0683 cm
